On March 21/22, the European Council took the decision to open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, but unfortunately Albania and the decision to open chapters were not on the agenda.
A missed opportunity for 11 years now, where integration is used as an empty refrain but nothing has been achieved. In these 11 long years of waiting, this process has been treated as elitist, political, failing to put in the center the citizens who are leaving while they do not see the Europe promised here.
Instead of complaining, as we have done for 11 years in a row, where we pointed the finger of blame at the EU. We must turn this lost time into an opportunity to undertake reforms to turn integration into a process not to distribute worthless medals, but into a process that helps Albanians.
The lack of meritocracy has turned into a system of lack of free market and competition that has closed businesses and these were the reasons that have led Albanians to emigrate. No one believes that promises on paper come true. After they see the corruption returned to the system.
We cannot have an anti-corruption battle without having at its center a real package discussed over petty party interests. Reform the economy to guarantee a free and competitive market. As well as the undoing of monopolies that have destroyed innovation and production capacity by imposing additional and dishonest costs on citizens. The return of meritocracy in the face of a kleptocracy that has stifled the developing capabilities of the country.
Time for integration to be the changing platform for the country!
