Tourism is the most important pillar of the economy. Tourism is not only based on blue water and gray sand. Tourism needs roads, water, energy, parking, buses, taxis, good food, dignified service, education, courtesy...

Publications and debates, "whether tourists increased or decreased", continue to the point of vulgarity on the net, and even in the media. When the season is in the middle and no operator has calculated how much he earned this year, it is too early to draw conclusions. Because in the economy I think that accounts are made with money and not with "head". But what can be seen "with the naked eye" is that this year there is a decrease in the number of vacationers. Which suppliers are down? So from which country was the deficit created? This should be said by the institutions, not those who count the empty deckchairs.

But, modestly, I think there are two reasons for the decline:

The first: The Kosovar vacationer, the one who has economic opportunities for more than Albania, fled after the visas were revoked. Unofficial information says that this category has chosen Greece and Turkey. Exactly the removal of visas for Kosovar citizens should have reduced our tourism experts to make calculations, forecasts and recommendations. Wise minds are therefore, to produce prognoses, predict situations and suggest measures.

Instead, our government looked at the cup to predict how many tourists would come to us.

The second is exactly this "cup". The government institutions declared with great fanfare that 10 million tourists will come this year. We have it in our hands, let's make it 12 million? - someone else said. We could have done 15 more, so that no one asks us to account. On what basis were these predictions made? Were these market studies by local and foreign operators showing the trend of vacationers? Publicly there is no data. There are only euphoric political posts and forced news in the media. It was this euphoria that made the owners of hotels and houses "fly with leeks", and raise prices, as people would fight at the door to see who would enter first. That big crowd apparently didn't come. And this increase in prices also penalized local vacationers.

In these conditions we are looking for enemies. Some accuse Albin Kurti of telling Kosovars not to go to Albania. Some accuse the Greeks and Turks of paying anti-advertisement in Albania. This may be true, but it is a competition, a war of markets. Do you know why the US and China keep their military jets on? Because they are in a non-stop trade war.

But our fault is that we are always short-sighted. We only enjoy the success of the moment. We don't think everything will happen even after a year, let alone after a decade. We don't analyze what went well and what went wrong this season in order to take action next season.
