Not that Oedipus was not there, but he was hidden behind the curtains of the political scene.
It was known for a long time that even in the Socialist Party there existed 'Oedipus', or more precisely, the Oedipus phenomenon. Unlike Sophocles' Oedipus, these attempt to kill the 'king', but not necessarily the king.
However, Oedipus, a mythological figure, has lived as a reality for so many centuries because he is present everywhere, wherever he appears, his face and the dagger with which he draws blood are covered.
He is more to be found where there is 'kingdom'.
The Socialist Party, which has been governing the country for 12 years, is one of the 'kingdoms' where the 'Oedipus' aim to grow. The king of Thebes, who before his birth was projected by the oracle that when he grew up 'he would kill his father and marry his mother'.
Bad luck and betrayal know no bounds before Oedipus.
Even in the SP "kingdom" this would happen, necessarily. But only yesterday, at the congress of the Socialist Party, the curtain of the old theater was 'opened', and it was shown openly. The President and Prime Minister Edi Rama brought out the 'betrayal' of the sons of the SP. He said out loud, choosing the word and the phrase in order to stick like lightning on the ground, that inside the 'family' there are those who cooperate with 'portals and channels' behind the backs of friends and personalities at the head of jobs.
The typical portrait of Oedipus created as early as five centuries BC. Born, that is, known since childhood for 'nothing else but maneuvering with the king', one day he happens to be close to 'the third father'; he was even elected twice for the post of deputy prime minister. Everyone was surprised, except the 'king' who did not know; even the beach cleaners where he used to go as a 'big rich man'. Now he has decided to carry out the assassination of the "Laj of Tebes" or the head of the Government from the richest canton of Switzerland.
The good thing that this seemingly ghastly news brought to the 'kingdom' is that the SP 'kingdom' itself admitted that there is Oedipus within its 'theatre'. It would be absurd if this reality were not accepted. That then it fell to him that a kingdom that grows every year should not resemble the kingdoms of the beginning, like the one created by Sophocles.
The Socialist Party today is the party that has given face to corner of the country; you can say that there are no 'remains' of the 30 year period created by the perverse 'kings'. Even just a few symbols of the long communist kingdom can be touched. It is expected that the fourth mandate, which starts in 2025, will be led by the SP. Albania's accession to the EU, between 2025-30, was designed by Rama as the work of this government.
Then, will there not be other Oedipus?...
Edi Rama is washing all the "political gravel" of the SP. Half of the members of the Assembly yesterday came young people. All ministers - young. The old ones no longer have the 'need' to kill; but young people - yes!
That's the point; what do we do when we have nothing to do!
Have a look at the portraits of the new arrivals? Which one of them will be the next Oedipus?! Someone looks like him, but can you put your finger on him? Perhaps today traitors and impudents are revealed; how much more if thou hast even a little of the skill of the Oracle of Delphi, and as merciless as the Oracle. Some come for a career, some for 'work', some to get rich; nobody for heaven. Then this is where Oedipus hides.
