Berisha has demoralized and disappointed half of the 2021 DP electorate.
The Eurobarometer survey, published yesterday by Euronews Albania, which for years has been among the most accurate in predicting elections, gave an alarming figure for the Democratic Party, showing what Sali Berisha has done to this party.
When asked how citizens believe the elections will turn out, 64% of them think that the Socialist Party will win, while only 15.5% believe that the Democratic Party will win.
But this is not the worst number. What is more worrying is that this result is predicted by the DP voters themselves.
Of the DP voters in 2021, 49.5% believe that the SP will win convincingly with 64%, while the DP will only receive 15.5%.
In comparison, 91.3% of SP voters in 2021 think their party will win, while in the DP half of its electorate sees a landslide victory for the Socialists as inevitable.
This is no longer a question of who wins between the SP and the DP, but the fact that half of the Democratic Party is now convinced of a landslide victory for the Socialist Party.
This is the clearest indicator that Berisha has demoralized and disappointed half of the 2021 DP electorate.
This is the result of his battle to subjugate the Democratic Party, to bring it into line with his personal interests, in the face of the judicial system and international politics.
In this battle, half of the DP electorate has “fallen as a martyr.” This is the concrete balance of the DP’s “unification” campaign. Instead of uniting the party, Berisha has destroyed the trust of half of its voters.
We are not talking about the final election result here, but about the confidence with which the DP is entering the elections.
Faced with this situation, the political masturbation of the DP and Berisha's people, who edit news for ridiculous American portals in their studios in Tirana, to self-suggest to themselves that they are on the right track, is going in vain.
The problem is not that Albanian society does not trust them, the problem is that not even half of the DP trusts them anymore.
And this is the real effect of Berisha's mission in the opposition: He has irreversibly divided the Democratic Party. He has irreversibly weakened it. He has turned it into a permanent loser.
And that part of the DP that he has trampled underfoot to humiliate, more than a victory for him, is a victory for Edi Rama and a guarantee for the continuity of socialist power.
Berisha is taking the DP lower than in 1997. With this trend, Berisha is taking the DP even lower than he took it in 1997. The only difference is that he can no longer do to Albania what he did to it in 1997.
