I remembered that story with black humor while watching the unrelated brawl between Sokol Balla and Gazmend Bardhi where one overdoes it in content and the other in language and Berisha's vigilance to call this a death threat to Gazmend Bardhi.
In 1997, the Democratic Party appointed Filip Çakulin as a deputy in Saranda. Since the area was out of control and the law was made by the gangs, who had taken Leonard Demin hostage, Philip decided not to go at all. But in order not to leave this story without humor, together with Koco Devolen and Agron Llakaj, he created a poster where Filipi appeared raped and published it in Hosteni magazine.
Sali Berisha saw it and flew for joy. He went to the press conference, condemned the violence of the gangs in Saranda and threatened that whoever touches Filip Çakuli has business with him.
After Berisha, the OSCE mission also took it seriously. They also landed at the PD headquarters and met Berisha. He explained to them how the violence had happened and what the gangs had done to Philip.
The mission became even more worried.
- Can we meet this candidate ourselves, said the head of the mission?
- Definitely said the Doctor. And he called me to find Philip who had been massacred.
- I told him that it was humor and that Filipi is healthy. He did not go to Saranda at all.
- So ... They are looking for it.
- We tell them that he is hiding because of the fear of gangs, - I told him.
And I told Philip about the situation at Guva e Këte.
He took the black humor even further.
- Now he will call Izet, he said and he will tell you: I will find Filip and make me like this poster that he wants the OSCE.
I remembered that story with black humor while watching the unrelated brawl between Sokol Balla and Gazmend Bardhi where one overdoes it in content and the other in language and Berisha's vigilance to call this a death threat to Gazmend Bardhi.
Sokol Balla's comment on TV was not a threat to Gazmend Bardhi, but a warning that it could be misused in the dirty war between speculations with wiretapping and political war.
Gazmend Bardhi's reaction was also an attempt to emphasize the fact that the government was worried about him, and the language had the normal excesses of DP when talking about enemy journalists. Then the continuation is banality as Sali Berisha enters, who in fact will kill Gazmend Bardhi by the hand of Edi Rama as he wanted Azem killed by the hand of his enemies.
Of course, nothing like that is going to happen. But Berisha feels excited that he is finally being offered the opportunity for a victim for whom he has the perpetrator ready.
The greatest danger to a politician from a journalist is to face the truth publicly, and the greatest danger to a journalist to a politician is to use power against him. Neither Balla nor Bardhi are in such positions that they can harm each other. The only one who hates both of them is Sali Berisha, who loves one as a murderer and the other as a martyr. As in the case of Philip.
