The elections proved that the Greek nationalists in Himara are a minority of the minority. You never win with them and if you don't put candidates in front of you.
The results of the elections in Himare raise, among other things, an alarm bell about the impossibility of the opposition to function as a united one.
The results show that the "unification" did not work, it even worked for the worse.
Thus, the Democratic Party, which is the largest opposition party, could not gather its votes in Himara.
It is down from the last election a year ago, when it was officially divided. The PD leaders themselves in Himare contested the candidate, who was chosen without asking them, and the attempt to impose it on them from Tirana seems to have provoked rejection. Or worse, they may have voted against.
The Freedom Party, on the other hand, seems to no longer exist and the few individuals who may have remained, I believe, have more love for Vangjel Tavo than for Ilir Meta.
But it seems that the main drama happens with PBDNJ, which is no longer able to function united with "Omonia", even though formally they seem to be in unity.
The chairman of PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule, who avoided the candidacy of Beler's son, as he was afraid that an independent factor would be created from him in Himara, in the end, in the name of love for "Beler's mandate", blew up the campaign of Gjikurija, ignoring the race two days before the elections and announcing as a priority the recognition of Beler's mandate, which has already been overthrown by both the court and the voters.
PBDNJ's priority is not to create another political factor for the Greek minority in Himara, while the priority of "Omonia" was to win the elections. So even the Greek factor itself in Himara has not worked together, even though it is in the minority.
Finally, the result proved that Petro Gjikuri's candidacy, unlike what they try to ignore now after the defeat, was the only one that was able to unite the pro-Greek nationalist minority in Himare.
The result in the municipal unit of Himara shows that Gjikuria received more votes than Beleri a year ago, even though Beleri mobilized all the buses of Athens to his side. Gjikuria without buses has received more votes than Beleri.
The reason is that Petro Gjikuria does not radiate either banditry in his face, nor arrogance, but a misunderstood man with the idea that Greek nationalists are the majority in Himara. Personally, he is a much better candidate than Beleri, but he cannot understand that he represents the minority of the minority in that city.
This result has done a great service to all those who deal with electoral calculations in the Municipality of Himara, as it has proven that the only united votes in Himara are about 2400 votes of Greek nationalist voters in the Himara unit, which Gjikuria identified and held them together, losing because of them and the spirit on which he based the campaign.
The elections proved that the Greek nationalists in Himara are a minority of the minority. You never win with them and if you don't put candidates in front of you.
The votes for an opposition victory in Himara should be cast by the Albanian opposition parties, which have more votes than the pro-Greek minority of Himara.
The pro-Greek nationalist minority of Himara can only be factored as soldiers of the Albanian opposition, disguising themselves within it. This time they tried to lead the opposition, turning the main opposition figures into ridiculous soldiers of the Golden Dawn and severely damaging the Albanian opposition, which the "unification" now made even smaller.
