Beyond morality, what opportunities does the DP lobby have?

Beyond morality, what opportunities does the DP lobby have?

What is unclear in "appearance" is how the DP's lobbying contract with the American company "Continental" was achieved, which will reach the figure of 6 million in two years. On the other hand, the fact that its officials have already signed shows that their undertaking is well-thought-out. We must clarify that it is known by now that the contract was signed by Flamur Noka, as a representative of the "Greater Albania" coalition, but that paradoxically the people of the alliance still do not know how the process was!! This was shown a few hours ago in an interview by one of the exponents of Albanian politics, Mr. Agron Duka.

The greatest energy of the DP has gone during all these times for this act, while the public has expected that the effort would be greater for the terrain and its dilapidated structures. When you remember and take for granted the fact that some of the people of the DP complained that they would campaign with the diaspora with their money, then you understand all this paradox that will be the food of the campaign for Rama in the few remaining days. And, his battle is with an argument for morality, regarding the money thrown away that so far exceeds all the previous lobbying of our politicians, including the socialists, and, frankly, make us laugh for spending beyond our means.

So far, there are no specific examples of such efforts having been successful in lifting the non-grata status. And, above all: the power of commitments to lift the non-grata status or sanctions can be complex and often involve diplomatic negotiations between governments. In this case, the action is claimed to be that of the “patriotic” Albanians, who barely managed to collect in the most difficult moments of Albania that of the earthquake, not even 1\7 of this amount. The Rama government for the DP is the real reason for Berisha’s non-grata.

It should be clarified that the Balkans are full of personae non-gratae. Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania should be "proud" of this corruption list and how a number of them are beating their chests. Even Kryemadhi, the former leader of the SMI, was not impressed at all even though she is under investigation. Away from Albanian territory:

Nikola Gruevski, the former prime minister of North Macedonia, has failed to lift his “persona non grata” status in the US. In fact, the US State Department blacklisted Gruevski and members of his immediate family for their involvement in major corruption, citing abuse of power, embezzlement of public funds and interference in the electoral process. Berisha has a similar measure from the State Department, added to those from the United Kingdom. Gruevski has been living in Hungary since 2018, where he was granted political asylum in Budapest. He claims that the Macedonian government lobbied the US administration to blacklist him, just as Berisha did for the Rama government.

Despite his efforts, Gruevski remains ineligible to enter the United States. While there are no specific examples of successful lobbying efforts to lift the non-grata status, some recent developments indicate progress in complex, non-individual areas such as humanitarian sanctions, foreign aid reforms, and diplomatic efforts. The latter include efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and engage with other countries, which can help resolve the issues leading to the non-grata status. The U.S. Senate has considered legislation to support allies and counter hostile powers, demonstrating the importance of diplomatic efforts in international relations.

But for individuals, there remains a really wide and very challenging path, which on the other hand crosses all institutions, even American ones, where scruples are falling. As for Albania, the justice and electoral structures are completely unclear, obscure and caught in the petty and insidious traps of Albanian politicians. In this case, the DP with this large contract managed to show that it remains far from moral principles, just those that it claims to bring if it comes to power after May 11.
