Durrës Police have arrested 26-year-old Arbër Xhaxhaj, who was drunk at the wheel and because he lost control of the car, fell from the Dajlan Bridge, and as a result, the 18-year-old passenger, Vikena Greku, became a victim.
At high speed, it crashed into the traffic divider, ripping it open, and the BMW then fell from the overpass, falling 30 meters, and then the vehicle ended up inside a flower shop.
"Following the information provided last night, regarding the road accident at the Dajlan Bridge, resulting in the death of citizen VG, we inform that the Traffic Police services immediately carried out the necessary investigative actions, in order to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
At the end of these actions, the driver of the vehicle in which citizen VG was a passenger, citizen A. Xh., 26 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Violation of traffic rules", resulting in death, and "Driving vehicles in an irregular manner".
Investigations revealed that the 26-year-old lost control of the vehicle he was driving while intoxicated, and as a result, the vehicle collided with the side barriers of the bridge and fell off it.
"The 26-year-old continues to be under the care of doctors, currently out of danger to his life, while the 2 injured pedestrians have received the necessary medical assistance and have left for their homes," the police announced.
