Cars blocked on suspicion of vote buying, Police take DP candidate to SPAK

Xhemal Gjunkshi, the candidate of the 'Greater Albania Alliance' coalition, and 3 other people have been referred to SPAK by the Dibra Police, following an incident that occurred late on Friday evening, where a group of opposition supporters blocked two cars, claiming that votes were being bought in Maqellarë.

The incident occurred around 9:15 PM yesterday evening, as Gjunkshi himself called the Police about the car that had been blocked on suspicion of vote buying, while two people were inside it.

The police announced that they immediately launched an investigation into the incident, as they determined that there was an illegal action by supporters and representatives of the Democratic Party, through self-judicial killings. They also referred, in cooperation with SPAK, materials for active corruption in elections and obstruction of the movement of means of transport.

"For the above, the procedural materials were referred to SPAK, for the criminal offense "Active Corruption in Elections", related to the criminal offenses "Self-Judgment", "Obstruction of the Circulation of Road Transport Vehicles", charged with citizens AK, 29 years old; HH, 48 years old; Xh.Gj., 62 years old; E.Gj., 33 years old", it is stated, among other things, in the official announcement of the Dibra Police.

Xhelal Mziu accused the former SP mayor, Agron Malaj, who is running for MP in this district, while the latter responded with a video post that the blocked car was not his, as he was in Burrel with the electoral headquarters, stating that the incident could be verified.

Dibër Police Announcement:

"On 09.05.2025, at around 21.15, the Operations Room of the Dibër Local Police Directorate received a call from citizen Xh.Gj., (candidate for deputy of the Democratic Party political entity), who stated that in Maqellarë, representatives of the Socialist Party political entity were suspected of distributing sums of money in exchange for votes to residents of this unit.

Immediately, the special investigative group of the Dibër Local Police Directorate went to the given address and, under the direction of SPAK and the Dibër District Prosecutor's Office, all necessary investigative actions were carried out.

Regarding the above, the procedural materials were referred to SPAK, for the criminal offense "Active corruption in elections", related to the criminal offenses "Self-judgment", "Obstruction of the circulation of road transport vehicles", charged with citizens AK, 29 years old; HH, 48 years old; Xh.Gj., 62 years old; E.Gj., 33 years old".
