Albanian Leonard Kurti, accused of murdering 50-year-old Shpëtim Bajrami during a fight outside a gas station in Analipsi, Thessaloniki, was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The motive for the murder, which was committed last year in July, seems to have been the victim's suspicion that the defendant was flirting with his partner.
The judges found 45-year-old Leonard Kurti from Elbasan guilty of manslaughter.
After the court's decision, he returned to prison. In his statements, 45-year-old Kurti claims that the victim threatened and insulted him. According to him, these were several episodes that happened before he killed him.
"He threatened me, blackmailed me, insulted me..." he said.
During the fight outside the gas station, he said he tried to calm the 50-year-old and did not mean to kill him.
"I raised my gun to scare him, I shot to scare him," he added.
