The Supreme Court has finally sentenced Marjana Çmeta to 32 years in prison, who poisoned her mother-in-law in 2017 after a fight between them.
Marjana Çmeta had filed a recourse appealing the decision issued by the Appeals Court on November 28, 2020, but the third instance court decided not to accept her appeal.
According to the prosecution's investigations at the time, it emerged that Marjana Çmeta was alone in the apartment with her mother-in-law, the victim Lirie Lami. She offered her a fruit drink in which she had put photoxin.
Then, seeing that the victim was not dying, the bride committed physical acts by strangling her with a scarf and, after the victim's reactions, biting her on the face and other parts of her body.
He then notified the victim's husband's brother, whose apartment was nearby, and they transported him to the hospital, reporting him as having committed suicide.
The deceased's son himself divorced his wife after the incident, stating that she had grabbed his mother by the hair and was hitting her, while the son had intervened several times to separate them.
Initially, the young woman denied the crime, claiming that she had been asleep, but a year later everything came to light. The confession that the daughter-in-law of the house, Marjana Çmeta, had made about the murder to the priest Hysen Shehu was recorded on video by the latter.
