A 63-year-old man passed away on Friday afternoon, after developing health problems while staying in the security facilities of the Durres Police Station.
According to official information, the citizen with the initials MG had been arrested the day before for the criminal offenses of "domestic violence" and "removal of a prisoner from his place of residence." He had been sentenced to 18 days in prison and was expected to be transferred to serve his sentence at the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IEVP) in Lushnja.
" At around 18:20, at Durrës Hospital, citizen MG, 63 years old, resident of Shijak, passed away.
This citizen was being escorted to the security premises of the Durrës Police Station, after he had been sentenced to 18 days in prison and was expected to be transferred to serve his sentence at the Lushnje Prison.
At around 15:04, he showed health concerns and was immediately transported by the Police services to Durres Hospital for medical assistance, where, despite the assistance provided by medical personnel, he died in the intensive care unit.
" The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continues its actions to fully clarify the circumstances, " the police announced.
