A 38-year-old man, sentenced by authorities in Italy to 6 and a half years in prison as an accomplice to drug trafficking, was arrested in Albania for extradition purposes.
As a result of the exchange of information and coordination of operational actions with Italian partners, carried out through specialists from the Interpol Directorate, the services of the Special Operational Force Directorate of the DPSS finalized the operation codenamed "Operational 77".
As part of the operation, the internationally wanted citizen, Alesjo Abdija, 38 years old, was located, captured and provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition to Italy.
In 2024, the Court of Perugia, Italy, sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months in prison for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics", committed in collaboration.
Cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome continues to finalize the procedure for the extradition of this citizen to Italy.
