A 40-year-old man has been arrested by Tirana Police after a pursuit in the downtown area, where dangerous traffic maneuvers were observed.
The arrested man, identified as Mishel Prela, was stopped near Wilson Square while driving in conditions that jeopardized road safety.
According to police data, the driver disobeyed the order to stop and increased speed, also hitting the officers' vehicle while attempting to leave.
The pursuit ended after a few minutes, while during the intervention he violently resisted the police officers.
Subsequent checks showed that the 40-year-old was driving without a license and under the influence of drugs and alcohol. During the search, a quantity of suspected cocaine was found and seized in the vehicle.
"Performing dangerous maneuvers, with the vehicle he was driving under the influence of narcotics and alcohol, and without a driver's license, the 40-year-old was caught at "Wilson" Square, as a result of a police pursuit.
After being signaled to stop, he increased the speed of the vehicle, performed maneuvers that were dangerous to the lives of the police officers, crashed their vehicle, and during the escort, violently opposed them.
The "Volkswagen" vehicle and a quantity of cocaine found during the search were seized.
During increased patrols over the weekend, with the objective of guaranteeing the safety of citizens and preventing criminal incidents, the services of Police Commissariat No. 2, on "Ibrahim Rugova" Street, observed a citizen performing dangerous maneuvers with the vehicle he was driving, and for this reason they issued a stop sign.
The driver of the vehicle did not obey the repeated orders of the Police officers, but increased the speed of movement, crashed into the Police vehicle, endangering the lives of the Police officers.
The Police Services immediately pursued him, and in cooperation with the services of the "Eagle" Special Force and with specialists from the Narcotics Investigation Section, within the framework of the coded operation "Effect", they enabled the capture after a few minutes, at "Wilson" Square, and the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, citizen MP, 40 years old, resident of Tirana, who violently opposed the officers, and during the escort to the Police premises.
Further verifications revealed that he was driving the vehicle under the influence of drugs and alcohol and without a driver's license. During the search, a quantity of suspected cocaine was found and seized as material evidence in the vehicle.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
