The Korça Prosecutor's Office has declared incompetence in the case of 12-year-old Leo Sadiku, who lost his life a few weeks ago at the QSUT.
The Korça Prosecutor's Office has filed a criminal complaint in the case, following a complaint from the minor's family, who reported doctors in Korça and Tirana for negligence resulting in the death of their son.
The reason why the Korça Prosecutor's Office declared incompetence is because Leo Sadiku's death occurred at the QSUT.
The case will now be transferred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for investigation.
Leo Sadiku, 12, passed away at the QSUT on January 8. According to a statement from the hospital, the minor from Maliqi was diagnosed with acute myocarditis, a rare and dangerous disease, which is associated with a high mortality rate.
"Despite maximum care and treatments performed according to medical protocols, the patient's death was impossible to prevent," the QSUT explained.
But the family claims otherwise. His mother, Roveta Sadiku, has accused the doctors who treated her son of negligence, attributing the consequences that led to her son's death to this, and is demanding justice.
