Police have seized security cameras in the Balldren area to help identify the perpetrators of the attack that occurred this afternoon in Lezha, where spouses Kreshnik Mujeci, 39, and Gentjana Mujeci, 32, lost their lives.
According to investigative sources, it is learned that the couple was driving their Audi on the Balldren-Torovicë road when they were shot with a barrage of bullets by unidentified individuals, who are suspected of having ambushed them.
As a result of the shooting, the driver of the vehicle, Kreshnik Mujeci, who is also considered the main target, died at the scene, while his wife was also a victim.
Preliminary information suggests that they were returning to their apartment, which is located about 30 minutes away from the scene of the incident. After carrying out the attack, the perpetrators fled without leaving a trace.
As part of the investigation, the police have set up checkpoints at the entrance and exit of the area, mainly in the segment connecting Balldren with Mount Jus in Shkodra. Meanwhile, after examining the scene, the victims' vehicle was sent to the Scientific Police for further examination.
The motive for the assassination remains unclear, while the 39-year-old is known to the judiciary. In 2017, he was arrested as a suspect in the murder of Genc Mhillaj in Mali i Jushi, but the Shkodra Court later acquitted Kreshnik, Jozef and Lin Mujeci due to lack of evidence.
Investigators have focused on several leads, the main one being blood feud, without ruling out other possible conflicts from the past.
