The much-wanted Rinas assassin, Ylli Zalla, has broken his silence on his escape. Through a video message and detailed written testimony, he categorically denies involvement in the assassination attempt that occurred in Rinas on November 11, 2025.
In his statement, Zalla claims that he is being unfairly accused of the murder of Gilmando Dani and Muçi Shaljani (he died in the hospital a few days after the assassination), emphasizing that he had no role in this event.
" I am innocent and have nothing to do with the assassination. The police are unjustly implicating me and this situation is putting me in a blood feud ," he told JOQ.
He also accuses the State Police, claiming that the investigations were not conducted properly and that the evidence, according to him, was manipulated or misinterpreted. According to Zalla, the weapons and ammunition found in his apartment are old, left over from the 1997 riots, for which he says he has served his sentence.
On the other hand, the Police suspect that the 48-year-old helped the perpetrators of the assassination, while during the searches in his apartment, weapons, explosives and thousands of cartridges were found. He is wanted and has criminal records for illegal possession of weapons and explosives.
Despite the accusations, Zalla insists that the truth will come out and calls on the authorities to shed light on the incident and identify the real perpetrators.
