The cases of suicides have increased alarmingly during the last weeks in our country.
Although the year 2024 has only started 1 and a half months ago, 5 Albanian women have tragically ended their lives, most of them by consuming phostoxin.
Unhappy marriages, blackmail or even momentary arguments have led some women to commit suicide.
The last case that shocked our country is that of 27-year-old Sibela Abedini, who killed herself by jumping from the fourth floor of the building where she lived for rent in Kamze on Saturday evening (February 10).
Sibela Abedini, mother of a 2-year-old girl, ended her life, after the well-known tik-toker Altin Çoku published on social networks an intimate photo of the 27-year-old from the hotel room where they had stayed together.
Sibela lived with her daughter in Kamza, as her marriage with her husband from Kosovo was going through a crisis. The couple was in the process of divorce and for this, Sibela had come to live near her family, on "Teuta" street in Kamze.
The event was reported as a suicide, while today, two days later, the Tirana Police managed to solve it and handcuffed the citizen Altin Çoku. The latter is accused of having published a photo of the 27-year-old on the Tik Tok social network.
But how many years in prison does Altin Çoku, who was arrested today under the charge of "causing suicide", risk being punished?
According to article 99 of the Criminal Code: " Causing suicide or attempted suicide of a person, as a result of systematic ill-treatment or other systematic behavior that seriously affects dignity, committed by the person who depends on him or by the person with whom he has a family or cohabitation relationship, shall be punished with imprisonment from three to seven years" .
But Altin Çoku has denied that he published the intimate photo with Sibela, he said that the photo was published by a friend of his.
In a live conversation on Tik Tok with Clevio Serbianon, Altin Çoku claims that he did not publish the intimate photo with the 27-year-old, but a friend of his.
According to Çoku's version, the friend published the photo of the young woman from Çoku's phone when the latter was in the bathroom, since according to him he keeps the phone without a code.
He says that it was the young woman herself who took intimate photos, which he then sent by text message. During the confession, he also reveals that after the publication of the photo, he got busy with his wife.
