Ralf Faruku, the wanted Albanian, was arrested at Athens airport yesterday for the murder of Aleks Maksim Rapo and the wounding of Maria Shkëlqim Lamja.
The incident took place in the 50th kilometer of the axis that connects the aerodrome with the center of Athens.
The victims were in the Smart brand vehicle with license plate IMT 2460 when a quantity of explosives exploded leaving Rapo dead on the spot and seriously injuring Maria Lamjan.
He was arrested by the police on January 29, 2021 in Lamia in an armored vehicle where he was in the company of Alket Rizai, who had been released from prison for a few days. At the time of the arrest, the police discovered that there was an arrest warrant against Feruk as a suspect for cooperation in the murder of Roland Shembitras and Gjergji Kapaj at the "Joy Bar" in Glifadha on October 8, 2017. After the arrest, Feruk was held in prison until 12 April 2021, when he was released by order of the prosecutor without any security measure and deported to Albania.
Feruku was imprisoned for the first time in 1997 for the murder of a Greek in Piraeus, but he was sentenced to only 5 years in prison as the killing was considered self-defense. During his stay in the prison of Crete, in 1999 he was suspected, together with some other fellow prisoners, of the murder of another prisoner, but he was later acquitted. He is suspected of having participated in a shootout outside a mini casino in the Patisia area in 2019. Several policemen are also accused of this incident, who clashed with civilians for illegal matters. It is learned that he has denied the murder of Roland Shembitras and the wounding of Gjergji Kapaj, stating that he was a friend of Roland and a customer of the bar "Joy Bar". He stated that the murder was committed by other persons who were not masked and that there was a fight between them and the victim before the murder.
Ralf Feruku is suspected of being one of the organizers of a robbery worth 600,000 euros in 2015.
Specifically, on October 22, 2015, the 43-year-old owner of a jewelry store set up a trap in cooperation with a 29-year-old Albanian, who led a criminal group together with "Taqin". The owner left one of his employees and a 30-year-old Albanian in the store as sellers.
Two Austrians, a Bulgarian and an Italian, working for a Swiss company, had made an appointment at this jeweler to buy 19 kg of gold for 600,000 euros. The 43-year-old owner, using an Albanian who knew the Albanian language, communicated on Viber with the 30-year-old Albanian to delay the buyers and help the robbers.
The two Austrian women faced two armed robbers who took the black suitcase with 600,000 euros. They ran away without taking anything else and lowered the shutters of the jewelry store, locking the victims inside as well as the 30-year-old Albanian.
The police were notified by Austria about the robbery, after the victims had communicated with their families. The police revealed the incident by clarifying the role of "Taq" in it.
