The former senior director of the police, Arjan Hoxha, says that politics in Albania hinders the work of the Police and the Prosecutor's Office to investigate organized crime. Even according to him, in some cases the politicians appear next to them, putting the pistol to the head of the police officers.
The former head of the Police spoke of Nikla as a 'red zone' where the Police find it difficult to intervene. He also said that unfortunately there have been cases where the special forces have made compromises with gangs in Nikël to intervene there.
"It is an area that is included in the red zones for the State Police. Perhaps the most dangerous for the Police. From 2013 onwards, the activity of those criminal groups has spread throughout Albania, they have accumulated terrible finances. They reconcile with all the crime that operates in Albania.
It is impossible for the local Police, even the special forces find it difficult to enter that area. Unfortunately, compromises have also been needed several times. Especially to enter Nickel. So compromises when the special forces intervene, that we will have 1,2,3 things. So things are so complex that it is not known where the Police will intervene. It is an area that is really outside the control of the state.
Political intervention damages the work of the Police or the Prosecutor's Office. This is the Albanian reality. When he comes there, the politician associates with a criminal.
