Laert Haxhiu's plan for an attack on the prosecutor of SPAK, Doloreza Musabelliu, and that of Lushnja, Merita Selimi, revealed recently by the confession of the repentant Artan Tafani, has its roots in the serious massacre of October 11, 2017 in Lushnja, where Jurgen Hoxha and Zamir Latifi were killed and Marjus Xhepexiu and Bujar Turku were wounded.
The four were caught by the barrage of bullets without any fault, Haxhiu's target was Xjulio Skurti, the nephew of the sworn enemy Aldo Bare, who escaped again after he had just left to get his hair cut at the barber, after earlier attempts without being executed. The investigation was led by the prosecutor Merita Selimi, who for 2 years in a row kept the file in the local prosecutor's office, until it met the conditions for a "structured criminal group" and passed it to SPAK for competence. The incident was finally considered solved in July 2020, after the family members of the murdered Zmir Latifi found security camera footage privately, which was taken at a gas station owned by Saimir Taullaut, which confirmed that the key people of the murder are Laert Haxhiu and Orgest Bilbili.
The three were wanted earlier, but their arrest would be delayed. The first to be arrested was Orgest Bilbili, on April 10, 2020, quite by accident by a single policeman during the pandemic. A few months later, in August 2020, Anterio Kaloshi was arrested. On October 15, 2020, the special court started the trial for the Lushnje massacre by sending a notice of the process to Laert Haxhiu's address in Lushnje, because he was a defendant in absentia. In this process, Orgest Bilbili and Anterio Kaloshi were sentenced to life imprisonment by the decision of the First Instance of the Special Court, while the process for them continues in the Appeal, where the accusation was represented by the prosecutor Musabelliu.
Laert Haxhiu, for this event, is still being investigated in absentia, while he was never arrested in our country, despite the fact that RENEA and FNSH carried out numerous operations. He was caught in May 2023 in Greece, during a pursuit by the Hellenic police, and had crossed the border for a few days. During the time he was arrested in Greece, the Albanian authorities filed another charge against him, as they uncovered the murder of Besmir Hida, Zamir Latif's uncle, who was executed in 2019, after he had sought justice for the murder of his man. Laert Haxhiu, Orges Bilbili and Ardian Ahmetaj are accused of this event, the latter also arrested in the Hellenic state.
