Tirana police have placed 6 protesters under investigation for attacks with Molotov cocktails against officers during a DP rally. MP Klevis Balliu is also under investigation for illegal organization.
According to the official announcement, during the protest, several people threw Molotov cocktails and pyrotechnic devices, while resisting and hitting police officers with hard objects. As a result of the incidents, three police officers were injured.
The police announce that 6 people have been prosecuted for the criminal offenses of "Opposing a public order officer", "Hitting while on duty" and "Disturbing public order and peace".
During the police operations, a Molotov cocktail, pyrotechnics, and hard objects were seized, which were suspected of being used during the protest.
"The Tirana Police, immediately after the end of the rally organized by the political entity Democratic Party on the evening of 08.05.2026, on the "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard, where during the rally several people threw fuel (Molotov cocktails), pyrotechnics, opposed and hit the Police officers with hard objects and as a result 3 police officers were injured, criminally prosecuted 7 citizens. Of these: 6 for the criminal offenses "Opposing a public order officer", "Hitting due to duty" and "Disturbance of public order and peace", and one citizen (MP) for the criminal offense "Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations". During the actions, the police seized 1 Molotov cocktail, pyrotechnics and hard objects" , the police announced.
