The Portuguese Ruben Saraiva will remain in prison waiting for March 20, to see the Court's decision on what will happen with the final security measure against him.
Saraiva pleaded not guilty to the case he is accused of, where he appeared before the Lezha court today. His lawyer Agim Cakrani clarified that he has obtained all the documents to see what the Prosecution has found.
"We had asked the court to review the amount of insurance, the prosecution and the court must verify the amount of insurance every 2 months. We got acquainted with the acts of the prosecution. We have set the date March 20 to give our explanations for the insurance measure. We demand the replacement of the insurance measure, in another milder measure. He is a person under investigation, he has not received the status of a defendant. We are in the investigative phase. We will get to know the acts. Today, the prosecution brought the bundle. We don't know what the prosecution claims, we haven't read it yet. The prosecution still has no evidence implicating the gentleman, it just has its suspicions. Otherwise, it would be on trial and not under investigation. He continues to deny the accusations of his involvement in the murder of businessman Ardian Nikulaj", said the lawyer.
Saraiva is accused of murdering businessman Ardian Nikulaj in Lezhë, who was extradited to Albania on December 31, 2023, following the decision of the Moroccan Court, which accepted the request of the Albanian authorities.
