Belgian police have busted a drug gang that processed cocaine in the city of Hasselt, east of Brussels. During the police operation, 11 people were arrested, including four Belgians, five Colombians and two Albanians.
According to the Belgian media, the chemical separation of cocaine from cardboard packaging was carried out in the discovered laboratory, a method chosen by traffickers to pass the narcotic without being noticed by the authorities.
The group mixed the cocaine with the cardboard and then transported the cardboard, now converted into shoe boxes, to the warehouse where the cocaine was separated from the cardboard.
It is further said that about 8 kilograms of cocaine chemically extracted from cardboard packaging were found in this laboratory, while large quantities of packaging suspected to contain raw cocaine were also found.
In addition to cocaine and processing materials, 20,000 euros, four cars and other valuables were seized.
