Elvis Shkambi, 30 years old, entered the courtroom at the Court of Appeals yesterday armed and discharged his weapon at Judge Astrit Kalaja, leaving him dead and injuring two others.
The shocking event also received international attention, while Shkambi himself appeared fearless after the murder.
Security camera footage showed the 30-year-old standing with his hands in his pockets in front of the courthouse, and as officers searched for him, he raised his hands and said, "It's me."
A day after the arrest, his uncle, in a statement that would cost him his freedom, said that whoever would convict his nephew would suffer the same fate as Astrit Kalaja.
He said, among other things, that he was not the murderer, but the state, that 'he was an educated boy of 16 years'.
He was enrolled in the "History" program in 2013-2014, but did not graduate./Tch
