Convicted of murder in Brazil, 51-year-old arrested in Rinas

A Brazilian, convicted of murder in Brazil, has been arrested in Albania, at the 'Mother Teresa' International Airport.

According to a statement from the State Police, Alex Fernando Vioti, 51 years old, resident of Italy, has been provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition, after he was sentenced to over 8 years in prison in Brazil on charges of 'murder'.

"As a result of the checks carried out at the entry/exit of the Republic of Albania, with the objective of cracking down on illegalities at the border and detaining wanted citizens, the Rinas Border Police services provisionally arrested, at the entrance to the country, the Brazilian citizen Alex Fernando Vioti, 51 years old, resident in Italy.

He was declared an international wanted person after, in 2023, the Court of Goiania, Brazil, sentenced him to 8 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Murder".

"Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with its counterparts at Interpol Brasilia, with the aim of extraditing the 51-year-old to Brazil," the Police announced.
