The State Police has provided details about the operation that led to the arrest of Albanian drug lord Bujar Sefa. He was arrested in Dubai after being declared wanted by SPAK as part of the "Rraja" group and is accused of being the leader of a criminal group that cultivated narcotic plants in Krujë.
"As a result of the cooperation of the State Police structures with their counterparts, within the framework of the operation codenamed "The Wanted", it was possible to capture in the United Arab Emirates and arrest with the aim of extradition to Albania, the citizen: -BS alias BX, 39 years old", the Police announce. He "was declared wanted by Interpol Tirana, after the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, with the decision dated 23.05.2023, has assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Cultivation of narcotic plants", "Production and sale of narcotics", "Structured criminal group", "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and a structured criminal group" and "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition"".
The 39-year-old is accused of being the leader of a criminal group that cultivated narcotic plants in the villages of the Cudhi administrative unit, Krujë, in 2020.
Interpol Tirana and Interpol Abu Dhabi are cooperating to carry out the extradition procedures of this citizen to Albania.
The news of his arrest was published a few days ago in the Italian media but without revealing his identity. The Italian media reported that he was discovered after inviting family members to the end-of-year holidays.
He is accused of being the head of a large drug trafficking organization in Venice and Albania, transporting not only cocaine, but also marijuana and hashish, all the way to the Netherlands.
Sefa had been on the run since 2019 and was sentenced to 8 years and 7 months in prison in Italy.
