The Spanish National Police has released important information regarding the murder of the 31-year-old Albanian, whose body was found last fall inside a bag in the swampy area of the Casasola reservoir, in Almogía (Málaga).
According to the investigation, the murder is suspected to have been committed as part of a settlement related to international drug trafficking. Spanish authorities point out that the victim was lured into a trap by the perpetrators, who had contacted him under the pretext of a meeting to finalize an alleged transaction, but which in fact proved fatal for him.
In the context of this case, three people have been arrested in the province of Barcelona, who are suspected of being related to the murder and have been placed in custody by order of the judicial authorities.
The detainees are two Albanian men, compatriots of the victim and connected to drug trafficking activity, who are considered the main perpetrators of the crime, as well as a Spanish woman, suspected of being an accomplice. The latter had rented a vehicle in her name and made it available to the suspects for the commission of the crime.
During the police operation, three searches were carried out in the towns of Vallirana and Villafranca del Penedés in Barcelona, where replica firearms, mobile phones and documents considered important for the investigation were seized.
The investigation began after a missing person's report was filed by the victim's partner, who reported his disappearance under suspicious circumstances. The case was followed by agents from the Marbella Police's Organized Crime Group, in collaboration with UDYCO Costa del Sol and UDET Group 23 in Barcelona.
With the help of the woman who made the complaint, investigators were able to reconstruct the last moments of the 31-year-old's life. On May 12, 2025, he was in a restaurant in Marbella with his partner when he received a call from acquaintances who asked him to meet them at a motel in the Puerto de la Torre area of Málaga. This was the last time he was seen by his partner. The couple lived in Benahavís and lived a luxurious life.
Preliminary investigations determined that the disappearance was not voluntary. Police found evidence that the victim had arrived at the meeting point and boarded a vehicle with two other people. They then headed to a mountainous area near the Almogía reservoir.
The body was discovered on October 14, when a person in the area noticed a suspicious bag in the Casasola reservoir. Inside it was found the lifeless body of a man, bound with plastic ties and in an advanced state of decomposition. Also found in the bag were cement blocks, which were suspected of being used to weigh down the body and make it disappear into the water.
Authorities believe that the lowering of the water level after the summer season made it possible to discover the body, foiling the perpetrators' attempt to hide the corpse and destroy the evidence.
The victim was identified through DNA analysis, combined with other elements such as clothing and body tattoos. An autopsy confirmed that death was the result of violence.
Following the investigation, police were able to identify the vehicle in which the victim had left the meeting place. The vehicle turned out to be rented by a woman in Barcelona and had been driven to the area where the victim had last been seen in the days before her disappearance.
From this trail, authorities identified the 58-year-old woman and then the two Albanian nationals, aged 36 and 45, who had travelled from Barcelona to Málaga to commit the crime. All three were arrested in February on suspicion of murder and involvement in a criminal organisation.
During searches at their homes in Vallirana, documents in the name of the arrested woman, mobile phones and replica firearms were seized. A third search was also carried out in Villafranca del Penedés.
Authorities also report that during the investigation, the victim's family members have faced threats, allegedly from people connected to the criminal network, with the aim of stopping the search for the missing person.
