Italian police have arrested a 47-year-old Albanian man who was trafficking a shipment of over 27 kg of cocaine, with a market value of over 1 million euros.
The operation took place in the Catania area, as the patrol encountered the Albanian's suspicious movement on the A18 Messina-Catania highway, setting up a checkpoint near the San Gregorio di Catania toll booth.
During the check, among other vehicles, a gray Renault Scenic was stopped, driven by a 47-year-old man, who appeared very nervous and could not justify the reason why he was driving in the Etna area. Reporting circumstances that did not correspond to reality, the aforementioned person was subjected to a check.
During the search of the vehicle, a specially designed hidden compartment was found under the front seats, on both the driver and passenger sides, inside which 24 blocks of cocaine, totaling 27.60 kilograms, were stored.
In particular, blocks with the “Bugatti” logo, containing cocaine-type narcotic substance, weighing 1,150 kg each, for a total amount of 8.05 kg, and blocks with the “Boss” logo, containing cocaine-type narcotic substance, weighing 1,150 kg each, for a total amount of 19.55 kg.
