Albanian Delir Visha was arrested after he was caught transporting cocaine worth 20 thousand dollars near Okehampton, England.
Delir Visha arrived in the UK illegally by crossing the English Channel in a small boat and was under pressure to become involved in drug trafficking to pay off his travel debt.
He was stopped between Whiddon Down and Sourton Cross on his way to Cornwall and had to be fingerprinted after giving a false name claiming to be a Greek national. The drugs were found hidden in his socks.
He also had three different driving licences, two in his own name issued in Albania and Germany and one in the name of the pseudonym Vasileos Alexandropolos, issued in Greece.
The 26-year-old admitted possession of cocaine, obstructing police by giving a false name and driving without a license or insurance. He was jailed for two years and three months by Judge David Evans at Exeter Crown Court, who said the sentence would lead to his deportation.
Investigator Paul Grumbar said Visha was stopped in a silver Ford Fiesta on January 11 this year and police found a package from a pocket behind the driver's seat. They later found three driving licenses and eight packets of cocaine at the house where he had been staying in Ilfracombe.
The total weight of the drug was 273 grams with a street value of more than £20,000 if sold in the deal for £80 a dose.
