Photos of two Albanians arrested in a cannabis farm in an industrial property of Neyland are published. Gentian Zhupa, 35, and Ergest Mucopata, 42, had been working on a cannabis farm to pay off debts to a criminal gang that smuggled them into the country.
They were each jailed for 12 months last week after being charged with being involved in the production of cannabis.
"It is expected that you will return to your country of origin when you have served your sentence. "The shorter the time in custody in this country, the better for the British taxpayer ," said the judge.
"A number of cultivation areas were found inside the building. It was a sophisticated example of a cannabis production site," said prosecutor Craig Jones.
The court heard there were lighting and watering facilities for the cannabis plants, as well as basic living facilities for the men. Even the electricity was stolen. Officers discovered 814 cannabis plants, which had an estimated yield of between 22kg and 68kg of cannabis. The cannabis would have a street value of between £88,000 and £350,000, depending on the yield, Jones said.
