An employee of the Rinas airport has been arrested after stealing passengers' valuables from their luggage. Meanwhile, another baggage handler has been processed.

The citizen Leidjon Zeneli was arrested and the citizen Mehmet Sula was processed in a free state. A sum of euros and jewelry, suspected to have been stolen from passengers' luggage, were also confiscated.

"In implementation of a special plan of measures, drawn up by the Border Police of PKK Rinas, in order to prevent cases of theft of valuable items from passengers' luggage and clarify the cases committed before, the specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Crimes of the Rinas Police Station have found one of the employees, citizen LZ, near the containers where the baggage handlers change, as he was hiding jewelry suspected to have been stolen from passengers' baggage.

Furthermore, a check was carried out in the space where the personal belongings were kept by citizen LZ and the other baggage worker, citizen MS. There, 1250 euros and other jewelry, suspected to have been stolen from passengers' luggage, were found.

At the end of the procedural actions for the case, the citizen LZ, 19 years old, was arrested red-handed for the criminal offense "Theft", and the citizen MS, 24 years old, both residents of Itches.

Also, the amount of euros and jewelry were seized as material evidence.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, for further actions.

The Rinas Border Police appeals to all passengers, for security reasons, to keep money and valuables in hand bags, not in hold luggage, as airlines are not responsible for them.

Also, it invites all passengers to report any evidence of this illegality or any other illegality to the employees of the Border Police of PKK Rinas, to the physical unit of the Rinas Police and to the toll-free number 112. The reaction of the Police to prevent and attack them will be immediate," the police announced.
