The policemen of Peqin prison, who were arrested after the murder in the cell of Arben Lleshi, have been released. The decision was given by the General Jurisdiction Appeal.
The serious incident happened a short time ago in the premises of this High Security prison on December 15 of last year.
Sokol Mjacaj, sentenced to life imprisonment, shot dead Lleshi, while the latter was in the cell and wounded his roommate, Indrit Shaqjan, the latter was out of danger for life.
Shortly after the serious incident, which alarmed the prison system and the state authorities, the director of the prison, as well as police officers, were arrested.
The following were banned for abuse of office:
- Prison director, Kamber Hoxha, 59 years old
- Prison police chief Qani Muç, 60 years old
- Former prison police chief Nikolin Gjonpali, 54 years old
- Prison regime chief Vilson Shima, 37 years old
- Information specialist in the hall prison operative Arben Dulellari, 52 years old
- 3 service policemen Ilir Balla, 46 years old, Florene Mile, 43 years old, Fatos Pire, 50 years old,
- 4 prison policemen Genci Muça, 49 years old, Klement Haka, 44 years old, Erjon Çila, 36 years old, Indrit Dubali, 41 years old
The murder of Arben Lleshi
The execution of the life convict, Arben Lleshi, in the High Security prison in Peqin has shocked public opinion. The serious event comes a few days after there were many signals from this prison about protests and threats of hunger strikes due to the poor conditions of the prisoners in that place of punishment.
The execution was carried out in a mafia manner, while it still remains a mystery how the weapon was introduced into that prison.
The killing is suspected to be well thought out and ordered from abroad, for revenge purposes.
Lleshi was sentenced to life imprisonment by the English authorities for the murder of Agim Hoxha in 2012, whose body was found burned inside a vehicle.
After this event, the saga of murders and eliminations in the Lleshi tribe began.
In 2013, Xhavit Lleshi, the uncle of Arben Lleshi, was executed with a firearm.
Then in 2016, Hajredin Lleshi was killed in his native village in Burrel, who is the brother of Xhavit and the other uncle of today's victim Arben Lleshi.
Meanwhile, in 2017, Artan Lleshi, Hajredini's son, disappeared without a trace and has not been found to this day. The same fate happened to Klevis Lleshi, who disappeared in 2020 and his remains were found on the property of the uncles of the victim caused by Arben Lleshi in England, Agim Hoxha.
With the murder of Arben Lleshi by Sokol Mjacaj, the balance of murders in the Lleshi family reaches 4 killed and another person who has disappeared without a trace.
