The Tirana Court has set the security measure of "prison arrest" for Elvis Shkambi, the perpetrator of the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom after he communicated the verdict on a property case in Shkodra.
The same security measure was also communicated to his uncle, Gjon Shkambi, and the security guard at the Court of Appeal, Banush Koxhaj. The hearing was conducted under the direction of Judge Marinela Osmani.
Elvis Shkambi has publicly apologized to the family of Judge Kalaja, stating that he committed the murder under conditions of psychological shock from the long ordeal of the trials.
Meanwhile, Gjon Shkambi, who is accused of "Murder in other qualifying circumstances" remaining in the attempted stage, stated in court that he had no information about the act his nephew would commit.
"I was unaware of my nephew's actions, I was leaving the courtroom when he shot the judge ," Gjon Shkambi said in court.
Both defendants have expressed dissatisfaction with the judicial system, claiming that the courts have not provided a solution according to the law to the issue of ownership of the palace, which they claim is theirs.
