The Court of Appeal has upheld the life sentence for Koço Buzo, convicted for the murder of his wife in Liljana Buzo 2 years ago. The event took place on May 6, 2021, near the Court of Elbasan.
We recall that the reason for Liljana's murder was her request to start divorce proceedings for separation from her husband, Koço Buzo. After the court session, the 58-year-old, ex-policeman shot his wife in front of their son.

Referring to media reports, the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction informs the following:
In the Court of First Instance of the Elbasan General Jurisdiction, the trial was held regarding the criminal case that belongs to the defendant with the initials KB, accused of committing the criminal offense "Murder in other qualifying circumstances", remaining in the trial, provided from article 79 letters "ë" and 22 of the Criminal Code, "Murder due to family relations", provided by article 79/c of the Criminal Code, for the criminal offense of "Disruption of public peace", provided for by article 274 of Penal Code as well as "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", provided by article 278/1 of the Penal Code.
The alleged fact is related to the event that happened on 06.05.2021, around 12:30, in the neighborhood "5 Maj" in Elbasan, near the intersection below the Elbasan Court of First Instance, the citizen with the initials KB fired a firearm his wife, a citizen with the initials LB, who died as a result.
Court of First Instance of Elbasan General Jurisdiction, with decision no. 235 (13-2023-1607), dated 27.04.2023 decided:
- The guilty plea of the defendant KB, with the security measure of "arrest in prison" for committing the criminal offense of "Murder due to family relations", provided by article 79/c of the Criminal Code, and on the basis of this article, the punishment of him with life imprisonment.
- The guilty declaration of the defendant KB, with a security measure, "arrest in prison", for committing the criminal offense of "Murder in other qualifying circumstances" remaining in the attempt, provided by Article 79/ë, in relation to Article 22 of K.Penal and on the basis of this article his sentence with 25 years of imprisonment.
- The guilty plea of the defendant KB, security measure "arrest in prison", for committing the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" provided by article 278/1 of the Criminal Code and based on of this article his sentence with 7 years imprisonment.
- The guilty plea of the defendant KB, with a security measure, "arrest in prison", for committing the criminal offense of "Disturbing the public peace" provided for by article 274 of the Penal Code and, based on this article, his sentence with 1 year imprisonment.
- Pursuant to Article 55 of the Penal Code, the final sentence of the defendant KB, with life imprisonment.
The case on appeal was examined on the basis of the appeal made by the defendant with the initials KB, who requested:
• Change of decision no. 235 (13-2023-1607) dated 27.04.2023 of the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Elbasan and sending the case for retrial to the same court with a different panel.
At the end of the trial, today on 06.12.2023, the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction, composed of the panel with Judge Relator Mr. Fuat Vjerdha and member Mrs. Irena Brahimi and Mr. Genti Dokollari, decided:
Enforcing decision no. 235 (13-2023-1607) dated 27.04.2023 of the Court of First Instance of Elbasan General Jurisdiction.
