The well-known actor and director, Enver Petrovci, in a conversation for the show "Voilà", long before his death, had confessed that he was close to a big decision in his career.
He had expressed that he wanted to play one last role in the theater and then retire from stage acting to devote more time to dramaturgy, directing, and television projects.
"Being an actor is like being an athlete, it takes strength and dedication. I have decided that after a leading role in the theater, I will no longer act on stage. I will continue in film and television, because they are easier physically. I will focus on directing and dramaturgy," he said.
Petrovci also spoke about the respect he has for Albanian actors and their talent, mentioning that he has one big regret: he has never seen the famous actor Sulejman Pitarka perform on stage.
Asked about the profession he would have chosen if he had not been an actor, he said he would have been a carpenter, revealing his love for working with wood and his early desire to build a house entirely made of wood.
In this interview, Petrovci also gave a strong message about how artists are valued in the Albanian space, emphasizing that often the greatest honors are given only after death.
"I have always kept my opinion to myself, thinking that the way I live and what I do will one day show who I am. I have realized that among us, among Albanians, a person is valued more after death. I hope that when I am no longer here, then they will appreciate exactly who I was," he said.
