The Central Electoral Commission has reacted to the fact that many citizens who appeared at the polling stations with expired cards were not allowed to vote.
In the reaction of the CEC, it is stated that the Central Electoral Commission is not the competent body for postponing the validity periods of identification documents.
It also adds that for people over 75 years old, the validity of identification documents is unlimited.
"The Central Election Commission brings to attention that it is not the competent body for postponing the validity periods of identification documents.
For voters over 75 years of age, the validity of identification documents is unlimited. This is defined in law no. 89/2020, dated 07/09/2020 "For an addition to law no. 8952, dated 10.10.2002 "On the electronic identity card of Albanian citizens", amended", says the reaction of the CEC.
