Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to a follower who asked him "if the eight floors of the skyscraper on Skanderbeg Square will be demolished."
Rama says that the procedures have been completed, adding that the additional square meters will be put to the service of the public interest.
The Prime Minister also stated that anyone who builds illegally will not be able to enjoy them. According to him, either the state will take it over, or the entire building will fall to the ground.
"I have information, every square meter in that building that was found to be illegal at that time no longer belongs to the builder. All procedures have been completed and, as in several other cases, those square meters will be taken by the state for public interest, that is, for offices, various public activities. So they will belong to a certain institution, it has not been determined yet. But they have already been transferred on paper and at the moment when the construction is completed they will belong to the state. Just as all of them were published as cases with additions, they have gone through various processes. Some were pre-purchased by the builders at the market price, another part was seized and confiscated. Whoever builds an illegal square meter will not be able to enjoy it. Either the state will take it, or the entire building will fall to the ground. This will be clear and definite for everyone," said Rama.
