The presidential race in the USA is on, as we are almost 3 months before the elections. Undoubtedly, the policy of many countries also depends on the new president. But it seems that those who are following it with the most interest are the leaders of Albanian politics.
They eat, swear, massacre and what not they say to each other, but it seems that Rama, Meta and Berisha have one thing in common: Donald Trump. Although they have not declared it openly, the three have their eyes on him, as they see him as a savior.
The one who is waiting impatiently is Sali Berisha. He was declared undesirable and there is hope that with the arrival of Trump and the elevation of Richard Grenell to a high position, perhaps Secretary of State, that mark will be removed. Likewise, his hope is that later American politics will affect justice and he will take it easy.
Berisha has several open files and even one of them is in the hands of the Americans, the Gërdec file. So more than anyone else, the one who is looking forward to the elections is Saliu. But the departure of Biden and the appearance of Kamala Harris seems to have stopped her smile, as she has started to be seen as the favorite.
Another name is undoubtedly Ilir Meta. For all those who do not know, Ilir Meta escaped justice once thanks to the influence of the Republicans. Before Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, Meta was being investigated for the CEZ-DIA dossier. But the one who suffered was Kastriot Ismaili.
At that time, Meta lobbied hard in the US and the investigation into it was moved away, being completely forgotten afterwards. We are talking about those lobbies that are now being investigated. Meta's hopes are that the scenario will be repeated and thanks to the coming to power of the Republicans, there may be an influence on justice so that he is not punished. It seems that this is also the reason for his pressure, as he is fighting hard not to be handcuffed before November 5.
The third name is Edi Rama, who, although supported by the current government, has managed things well with Trump. His daughter and son-in-law have taken Sazan and a part in the South of Albania, where they will invest. Taking power from Trump would be a gold mine for Rama.
