The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, addressed a letter to the Assembly where he demands that the institutions provide a final solution to the microcredit scandal.
The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, has raised concerns about the microcredit scandal. He has sent a letter to the Assembly expressing concern about the megascandal where a large number of citizens have become victims.
The President of the Republic informs the two parliamentary commissions of the findings and conclusions that come after institutional communication and information from the Bank of Albania and the Ministry of Justice about the steps taken by them to deal with the situation.
"This circumstance should raise the alarm of the institutions, not simply because of the unbearable individual drama of the victims of this abuse, not so much to respond positively to the human sensitivity and solidarity that society showed sparingly and consciously for them, but more much to show that the state and institutions are there for the people and at their service. The legal supervisory systems are established to protect, first, these layers," says the president in his letter.

These allegations are a real concern and require a convincing refutation from all competent institutions. I have followed closely and support the criminal proceedings that have started and are clarifying the role of the actors involved, but I cannot to stay without finding that we are facing a flagrant case of abuse, which has been extended over a relatively long time and, moreover, a criminal offense committed by subjects who were, due to their function, under the supervision of the authorities state (microcredit companies under the supervision of the Bank of Albania, while private executors under the supervision of the National Chamber of Private Executors and the Ministry of Justice)", he said.
Along with the concern for the serious consequences that this abusive scheme has imposed on the backs of a very high number of citizens, who belong to the vulnerable strata and without means of protection, the President of the Republic raises awareness of the need for a strong, coordinated and efficient response of all competent structures, to dominate not only this scheme of abuse, but to ensure that such events in the future are prevented in the genesis.
"Public sensitivity to the abuse of the administration of problem loans is very high and the citizen's concern is legitimate. The issue will create calm when the public perceives that the institutions are in full tune with this concern, have identified and are working on the right solutions Citizens need to understand that the state and the institutions are with them and against the abusers. This issue is not resolved by politicization or unnecessary rhetoric.
The Assembly is the most accurate and competent address to give the phenomenon a complete, successful, final and irreversible solution. As the President of the Republic, I express the belief that the messages included in this letter will receive the appropriate institutional attention", the letter addressed to the Assembly states.
