The chairman of the "Together Movement", Arlind Qori, has commented on the May 11 election process, raising serious concerns about the way the voting and vote counting took place.
Qori said that the party he leads already has two electoral experiences and is responsible for monitoring the entire process, through its observers engaged in voting and counting centers.
" We have two electoral experiences. We are responsible for what happens from the moment the voting starts until the counting, because we have our observers there, people who stay for a week and count every vote ," Qori said in an interview for the "Real Story" show on ABC News.
He stressed that although the observed irregularity does not change the result for his party, it is indicative of serious problems in the correspondence between official documentation and data collected by observers on the ground.
" The case we had does not change the result for the Joint Movement, but our experience is that the notes of our observer and the minutes have a discrepancy. We have appealed and now expect the responsible institutions to be transparent about this," he stressed.
According to Qori, the problem with the electoral system does not lie only in the counting process, but also in the voting phase, where according to him, the will of citizens may be deformed due to pressure and fear.
" The problem does not end there, because the voting process is very important. Is the will of the voter deformed? Does the Albanian citizen vote in truly free and equal conditions? And I can say here that the process in Albania continues to be truly scandalous, has been scandalous and continues to be scandalous ," declared Qori.
He brought up the New Tirana area as an example, where, according to him, citizens are afraid to identify with the party they support.
"From conversations with citizens, at Tirana e Re, citizens are afraid to vote for the party they prefer. They told me that we will vote for the Joint Movement, but please shut the door, you are publishing the photo of the handshake between us. There are many citizens who are afraid and feel threatened with the businesses or jobs they have," he concluded.
