The Supreme Court has upheld the seizure of 25 assets of Jamarbë Malltez and Argita Malltez. The judicial panel composed of Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj and Sandër Simoni did not accept the appeal of the son-in-law and daughter of the former prime minister Berisha, leaving in force the decision of the special court of appeal.
Jamarbër and Argita Malltezi sent an appeal to the Supreme Court in February of this year, opposing the seizure of assets by SPAK.
The son-in-law of the former prime minister Sali Berisha was arrested on Saturday evening, while the seizure of his assets was requested by order of SPAK.
The Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana has imposed the property insurance measure "preventive sequestration", for 25 real estates owned by him and his wife, Argita Malltezi, among them 6 bank accounts.
In addition to the apartments and a villa, three companies were also seized, specifically in Homeplan shpk, where Jamarbër Malltezi has 45% of the shares, Magnet IMO shpk, where he has 100% of the shares, and Magnet Gym and Fit, where he has 60% of the shares.
In total, 25 assets, immovable properties and 6 bank accounts have been placed under seizure.
Malltezi is accused by the Special Prosecutor's Office of "Passive Corruption" and "Money Laundering" related to the privatization of the former "Partizani" complex.
