Argita Malltezi at the head of the DP? Gazmend Bardhi: We do not have a vacancy

The vice president of the Democratic Party, Gazmend Bardhi, has asked to put an end to the theories about the political successors of the president Sali Berisha, even when talking about his daughter, Argita Malltezi.

Appreciating her intellectual and professional profile, Mr. Bardhi said it is time to work and win the elections.

"As long as DP has its president, I refuse to talk about the theory of the successor. At this moment there is no vacancy in the leadership of the party. The chairman of the party is Berisha. Each of us has so much work to do within the party that we should not think about who will be the successor of Sali Berisha, but have only one thing in mind: How with the chairman of the PD, Berisha, the PD wins the 2025 elections. If we talking about the successor is wasted energy and we definitely talk like we're going to lose in 2025.

We must focus on how with this structure, with this leadership, with this leader, we can lead the PD to the next victory", said Bardhi.

Although he tried to avoid this topic, he did not hesitate not only to give maximum appreciation for the professionalism of Argita Malltez, but also to support the hypothesis that she would be an added value within the PD parliamentary group.

"Malltezi is an excellent professional, a teacher of law, and this format would be valuable for the DP, even as a member of the DP parliamentary group. In principle, Mrs. Malltezi would be an intellectual figure and an added value for DP" , said Gazmend Bardhi.

From the position of the chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazmend Bardhi gave a warning to the structures of the Assembly regarding the mandate of the chairman of the opposition. Until now, there is no official discussion on whether the Assembly will start the procedures for terminating the mandate of the deputy for Mr. Berisha, but Mr. Bardhi took a firm position.

"It would be a serious provocation not only for the DP parliamentary group, but for anyone who believes in constitutionalism and democracy in the country. Therefore, any abuse of the constitution, any violation of the constitution, which affects the rights not only of a deputy, but of the leader of the largest opposition party, would be a serious provocation to the DP, to the opposition, to the supporters of DP" , he concluded.
