The Assembly is expected to vote today on one of the names that have been presented as candidates for the position of People's Advocate, while the Democratic Party has withdrawn its support with signatures for each of the names.
On the other hand, the socialists in the Laws Committee, three days ago, stated that the signatures cannot be withdrawn and it is up to the session to decide on the candidates.
But in today's plenary session, the Democratic Party, through Belind Këlliç, reiterated the request for the withdrawal of support signatures for all candidates.
He stated that the DP is determined to not support any of the 26 candidates in the race.
" We have informed you in writing on behalf of the group about this process. On December 5, 2025, you were officially notified of the withdrawal of support from DP deputies for all candidates. Our position is firm.
"Today, none of the 26 candidacies have the signatures of the DP deputies to compete. If you go back to the precedent of 2022, you accepted the withdrawal of signatures in the session no earlier ," said Këlliçi.
