While nearly 1.5 million Albanians outside the borders are asking the Government and the Assembly to apply the Constitution for the right to vote in the 2025 elections, Prime Minister Edi Rama has dissolved the National Diaspora Agency.
Upon his proposal, the Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla, the ministers and MPs of the SP; on January 25, 2024, they approved Law No. 7/2024, by which the National Disappointment Agency no longer exists, since February 9, when the law entered into force.
In this law, it is stated that agency officials will be treated according to the Labor Code, government decisions and the law, for employees whose structure is dissolved and their jobs are suppressed.
The Diaspora Agency was established on December 18, 2017, with Law no. 115/2017, after the merger of the Ministry of Diaspora headed by Pandeli Majko, while instead of this ministry, Babloku created the Ministry for Youth, with minister Bora Muzhaq.
Theoretically, the Diaspora Agency was merged as early as February 9, 2022 with Decision No. 81, of the government signed by Edi Rama, while on March 23, 2022, this decision was submitted by Olta Xhaçka, presenting it as a draft law in parliament, but it was forgotten.
After two years in the drawer, the bill became law on January 25, 2024, when Lindita Nikolla and the SP deputies voted for it amid the noise of whistles and smokers from the pulpit deputies.
But even after the smoke in the parliament, the Forum did not say a word about the merger of the Diaspora Agency; although in every meeting under the balcony of the "non grata" president, they say that they are fighting for the constitutional rights of Albanians and the voting of the diaspora.
While the "ideologues and patriots" of the SP continue their demagoguery, acting as if they are pleading for the vote of Albanians living abroad, while in parliament they dissolve the agency they had.
According to the explanatory report of the draft law presented for voting by Lindita Nikolla, it is said that with the merger of the Diaspora Agency, the state will save 71 million ALL, while its duties will be performed in the consular offices of Albania./ Pamphlet
