Today, President Bajram Begaj met with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar, during his visit to New York, where he heads the official delegation of Albania to the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly.
During his speech, Begaj expressed Albania's determination to strengthen strategic partnership relations with the US and to explore all the opportunities offered by the strategic partnership and the strong ties between the two countries.
The situation in the region and regional cooperation in the Western Balkans, as well as the integration processes of this region in the European Union, occupied an important place in the conversation between President Begaj and the high American official. He conveyed his thanks for the dedication of President Biden and the US administration for their continuous engagement in the region, appreciating as essential the role of the US for our region.
It is learned that in the meeting, emphasis was placed on the necessity of reducing tensions in Kosovo-Serbia relations and starting the implementation of the Agreement agreed with the mediation of the EU and the support of the USA.
President Begaj emphasized that Albania will continue to be a close partner of the USA for peace and security in the Western Balkans.
