The European Union has made it clear to Edi Rama that it cannot carry out reforms without the opposition.
We recall that this intervention comes after the opposition boycotted the Territorial and Electoral elections, where Rama said he would no longer wait for them and would continue alone.
Today, the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, met with the co-chairs of the Special Commission for Territorial and Administrative Reform, Arbjan Mazniku and Luciano Boçi.
Gonzato stressed the importance of a comprehensive and fully transparent reform, built on accurate data and broad consensus.
"At the same time, it is important that the functions are accompanied by sufficient funding, so that local authorities have real autonomy in decision-making, supported by the necessary capacities."
It remains essential that the reform brings better services to citizens and is in line with European standards.
