The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared that Prime Minister Edi Rama is discriminating against the north of the country. According to Berisha, the north produces more money each year for the state budget, but does not receive as much investment as the south.
Invited to the show 'Opinion', Berisha said that the demolition of hostels in Theth is one of the facts that shows Rama's discrimination against the North.
Excerpts from the studio conversation:
Berisha : Edi Rama's hostile attitude towards the residents of the north is a motive for any kind of reaction against him. The north is the main contributor to the state budget. The northern cascade that gives billions to the budget, the National Highway that gives millions to the budget every year. Let's count them. The north... he went in the most criminal way, he went to Theth and said: "Give me your vote, call the young guys where they are," and then he went and demolished 100 buildings...
Fevziu : They were without permission.
Berisha : They were absolutely on no one else's land except their own. They were not before the Church. The Church has its own perimeter. The Church's land belongs to the Church and no one has touched it. Among other things, Berisha declared that Serbia is also a more democratic country than Albania, since, according to him, Aleksandar Vučić does not control 98% of the institutions, as Edi Rama does, according to him. But according to Berisha, the reason why society is not rising is because Rama has instilled fear in them.
Berisha : Serbia is more democratic than Albania. Because Vučić does not have 98% of the power, like Edi Rama does. He does not. Because he does not control the institutions, like Edi Rama does. He does not control some of the institutions. Whereas this one has 220 thousand state employees, from Bajrami to the institution's sanitation worker, they are his chosen ones. It is not like that. Vučić does not control 90% of the media like here. He writes almost everything, even the newspaper headlines himself.
Berisha : Where did the guy with the wigs go, the one with Erion Veliaj? Fuga? Where did he go? He went because he had a file. They called him and he went.
Fevziu : It's his business where he went.
Berisha : Even editorials are dictated by the government in Albania.
Fevziu : Why doesn't Albanian society rise up?
Berisha : Society is in a state of great fear. He has sown fear. But it will wake up. Soon…
Fevziu : Do you see any defects in the opposition itself?
Berisha : Not one, but dozens. But this is not responsible for the farce. Because it is not the opposition that uses the state budget to buy votes. It is not the opposition that distributes 240 million euros to farmers during the campaign. It is not the opposition that gives 100 euros to pensioners.
Fevziu : Has this society lost its nerve or are you incompetent?
Berisha : Ideals never die!
