The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared during the opposition protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office that the situation in the capital is a "battlefield", while stating that "Tirana is in the hands of peaceful insurgents".
During his speech, Berisha also reacted to the intervention of the security forces, saying that he and his supporters were hit with pepper spray. The leader of the Democrat Party accused the government of using means that are prohibited by law.
"We are on a battlefield. Our country is on a battlefield. Tirana is in the hands of peaceful insurgents. The regime is hiding in rat holes. They are using means prohibited by law. They are no longer doing it with hope. The red line is being crossed," Berisha said to the protesters.
His statements come at a moment of tension during the opposition rally, while there has not yet been a reaction from the authorities regarding the allegations of the use of prohibited means.
