The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, voted this Saturday for the members of the DP National Council, within the framework of the proceedings of the party's National Assembly.
After casting his vote, Berisha told reporters that the candidate lists represent a political elite and reflect the spirit of renewal that, according to him, characterizes this Assembly.
" The Assembly continues, intertwined with speeches and votes, which are necessary as processes. But I am convinced that these lists represent a true political elite of Albania, they represent a renewal in the spirit of this Assembly as the Assembly of renewal. The lists are therefore among the most dignified. Of course, the multitude of candidacies makes the choice difficult, to be realistic because there are excellent candidacies ," declared Berisha.
Asked by journalists about the delay in the voting process, the DP leader explained that this time the voting was organized in separate categories.
" I was late because they separated them this time, and they did a good job, they separated the voting separately for men, separately for women and separately for young people. I believe they acted correctly so that their percentages and quotas are respected. I hope that women reach 40% and it is a statutory obligation for young people to be as present as possible. So that's it, I will go and continue listening to the speeches ," he said.
Regarding the concept of the renewal of the Democratic Party, Berisha said that it is not limited to the National Council, but is related to the vision and organization of the party.
" Renewal means vision, it means a modernity of the Democratic Party and a much, much more powerful organization ," he said.
Asked whether this renewal will include new names in the party's leadership structures, Berisha said that the process will be guided by the membership vote.
" Renewal without question, from a broad section... Now they are determined by the vote... but the sense of renewal is a red thread that runs through everything. No, the vote determines them of course, let's be open ," he declared.
As for the possibility of proposing new names to the governing bodies, Berisha confirmed that there will be concrete initiatives.
" I will propose without question. There is no question about that ," concluded the leader of the Democratic Party.
